Alonzo E. “Lonnie” Waterman, 81, passed away at Care One at Redstone on July 23, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.
A lifelong Springfield resident, he was born on April 3, 1938, a son of the late Alonzo and Grace (Bradway) Waterman.
He was a meat cutter at the former Dave’s Food Town for many years.
Alonzo loved his family, playing with his children and grandchildren, enjoyed hunting, motorcycle riding, breakfast with his “Banditos” motorcycle club members once a month and volunteering to cook for game suppers and blind fishing derbys.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine (Gauthier) Waterman; children Michael Waterman (Kris) of MI, Michelle Theriault (Kenneth) of GA, Mary Escobales (Richard) of Westfield, Cindy Regnier (Walter) of Wendell and Tammy Yacovone (Tony) of Springfield; ten grandchildren: Anthony, Lonnie, Courtney, Cassie, Jaimie, Michael, Katelyn, Matthew, Tony and Allison; eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by grandchildren: Jason Theriault and William Regnier and his siblings, Edgar, Harry, George, Leon and Edna.
Visitation will be held on July 30, 2019 from 4-7PM at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA. The funeral will be on July 31, 2019 at 8:30AM at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, processing to Holy Cross Church for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10AM. Burial will be in Leverett at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Soldiers Home of Holyoke.
