Alicia Melendez

Springfield-Alicia Melendez, 65, died April 29, 2009. Born in Puerto Rico to the late Juan Melendez and Fidela Miranda, she was an area resident for many years. She was predeceased by a son, Celso P. Melendez on April 17, 2009 and four siblings, Maria, Nereida, Josephina and Reynaldo Melendez. She leaves her husband, Bernardino Ortiz Claudio; her children, Radames, Evangelista, Hector, Sandra and Tito Pizarro and Elizabeth Melendez; four siblings, Jose Antonio, Chalia, Olga and Sara Iris Melendez and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. from New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC 25 Mill St., Springfield proceeding to Blessed Sacrament Church for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Rites of Internment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, May 4, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
