Alice R. Phillips

September 9, 1924 — June 28, 2023

East Longmeadow -
Alice peacefully headed to her ocean front resort in the sky, to the music of her favorite man ole blue eyes. At the young age of 98, nobody ever questioned how old she was, because she was proud of it and told every person she met! The hot ticket that she was, also made sure everyone knew she had been given 6 engagement rings and gave them all back but one! Louie's! She met Louie where they worked, the very first Friendly's in Pine Point Springfield. In the heyday of ceramics Alice owned several local ceramics studios in the area. And you can bet every family member had one of those Christmas trees! Her last studio was in the basement of her daughter Jean's home in East Longmeadow. She was nicknamed meals on wheels! She never turned down an opportunity go out to eat. Some of her favorites included 99, Mt. View for a BLT and road trips to Tekoa Country Club for a bite and visits with Dan! She was a Sunday regular at Texas Roadhouse with her daughter Judy until covid put a damper on her weekly salmon and stalking on family members! If MGM had a SkipBo table, you would've found her there! It was her card game of choice and while she won a few quarters every week her wins were questionable, she was accused of cheating a time or two!! She certainly wasn't camera shy either and had a Facebook fan club who enjoyed her adventures! Alice loved spending time with her family and looked forward to their yearly trip to cape cod, Captain Parker's Pub clam chowder and breakfast at the Hearth and Kettle! Her niece June Mendala held a special place in her heart! Always there for her throughout the years whether it be bringing her to hair appointments, whipping up her favorite foods or taking her out on the pontoon boat in Brimfield Captained by June's husband Ed! She enjoyed her waterfront view at Brownstone Gardens in East Longmeadow for more than 30 years. She made many wonderful friends with whom she traveled about town. Especially, Pat McCarroll who she spent much of her time with. She was blessed with four children Judith Bowen (Martin), Janet Young (Andrew) and Jeff (Margaret) all of East Longmeadow. Her daughter Jean Ference Burack preceded her in 1999. Meme was a a proud Grandmother of 6, a great grandmother of 7 and a GREAT-GREAT grandmother of 4! There was always a competition amongst her grandchildren for the title of golden child, but we all know who held that title, don't we David! Her love and importance of family was instilled in her grandchildren, which was evidenced by the love and care shown to her by her granddaughters Nikki Geoffrion (Frank) and Kelly McAlary (Steve Lucia) with whom she lived the last two years. The family would like to thank the Mercy ED and Baystate Hospice, who provided such kind, loving and compassionate care in her final days. Her family will celebrate her life with Sinatra music, food, fun, games and good friends. Alice will be remembered for her love of life, family, her beautiful soul and sense of humor. If you would like to remember Alice, donations may be made to the East Longmeadow Rotary Doug Burack and Jean Ference Burack Scholarship Fund c/o Dan Burack P.O. Box 414 East Longmeadow, MA 01028
