SPRINGFIELD - Alfred Grondin, 95, passed away on December 26, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Canada on July 27, 1921 to the late Francois and Marianne (Grenier) Grondin.
Predeceased by his wife Yvonne (Savage) Grondin and his grandson Michael, he leaves his son Gerard Grondin (Catherine) of Springfield, daughter Diane Hill (Kenneth) of Agawam, brother, Jean Paul Grondin and sister Teresa Grenier of Canada, six grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII.
He was a carpenter by trade and will be remembered as an inventor before his time. A happy man, he loved his wife and family, and never forgot to wave to his grandchildren when they left his home after visiting. He enjoyed the beach and his home in Florida.
Visitation will be held from 10am – 12pm on January 3, 2017 followed by a service at 12noon at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA. Burial will follow in Agawam Center Cemetery. Visit
