SPRINGFIELD – Alfred R. Duquette, 63, died suddenly in Sturbridge, Massachusetts on February 15, 2010. Born in Ludlow, Massachusetts to the late Romeo and Lillian (Rooney) Duquette, he was a lifelong area resident. For many years he worked as a truck driver for Stop & Shop and had belonged to the New England Teamsters and Trucking Industry Union Local 404. He was a Vietnam War veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart. Alfred loved gardening and landscaping. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, William, who died on July 3. 2009. He leaves his daughter, Michelle Franco, and her husband, Jose’, of Ludlow, Massachusetts; his son, Ben Duquette, of Springfield, Massachusetts; his brother, Larry Duquette: his 12 grandchildren: Jose’ Jr., Briyari, Tea', Yariana, Mateo, Aden and Jayden Franco of Ludlow, Massachusetts and Tianna, Nicolas, Anthony, Isabelle, and Christopher Duquette of Windsor, Connecticut; and his companion, Debra Hope Rattel. The funeral will be held on Sunday, February 21,2010 at 2:30 p.m. at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC., 25 Mill Street, Springfield, Massachusetts. Visitation will precede the service from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. Burial with military honors will take place at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, Massachusetts on Wednesday, February 24,2010 at 11:00 a.m. New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC is entrusted with the arrangements.
