Albert Stanisewski, Sr.

Albert Stanisewski, Sr. (“Big Al”), 67, passed away unexpectedly at home on November 24, 2015. Born in Westfield, MA on November 12, 1948, to the late John and Beverly (Harris) Stanisewski, he was a Vietnam War veteran, having served in the United States Army.  He worked for 37 years as a pressman for The Springfield Republican.  In his free time, Albert greatly enjoyed the outdoors, often taking fishing trips with his son Albert, Jr. and hunting with brother-in-law and best friend Robert Pragluski at his cabin in northern New Hampshire.  He was an avid beekeeper and gardener, and also spent a lot of time cooking with family.  He will be fondly remembered as a family oriented man who was loving, wise, and witty with a mischievous sense of humor.

Albert leaves his loving wife of 48 years, Rosemarie (Vivenzio) Stanisewski; son Albert Stanisewski, Jr. of Fairfield, CA; daughters Christine Weissman and her husband Mark of Travis Air Force Base, CA and Kimberly Demerski and her husband Jason of West Springfield, MA; brother Wayne Stanisewski (Debra) of Springfield, MA; sisters Holly Pragluski (Robert) of Springfield, MA, Beverly Lemire (Wayne) of Palmer, MA and Tracy Paulo (Michael) of Ludlow, MA; grandchildren Elizabeth, Christopher and Sophia Demerski and Stephanie, Laurel, and Elena Weissman; loved ones Angie Piechota and Peggy and Joe Campbell, all of whom he regarded as family; and lifelong friends Ernie Champagne and Elliott O’Brien. He was predeceased by sisters Bonnie Cavanaugh and Karen Soucie.

Funeral services will be held on December 4, 2015 at 8:45 AM at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA proceeding to St. John the Evangelist Church in Agawam for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM. Burial with military honors will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on December 3, 2015 from 6-8 PM.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Inc. 26345 Network Place Chicago, IL 60673-1263.
