Albert E. Hill

Albert Edwin Hill died peacefully on April 28th at a nursing home in Agawam, MA at the age of 92. He was born in Jersey City, NJ, the son of Frank and Jennie (Lahde) Hill. He grew up in Warren, Maine. He graduated from Warren High School in 1936 and from the University of Maine in 1941. He also received a Masters Degree from the University of Maine in 1968. He served in World War II from 1942-1945, and later reentered the Army and retired in 1965 with the rank of Major. He taught school in Solon and Corinna, Maine. He was also principal of Cherryfield Academy and Buckfield High School. After he retired from the service he worked in the state of Maine as an employment counselor retiring in 1977. He was an active member of the First Congregational Church in Brewer for many years. He was a member of the Masons, Narraguagus Lodge #88 in Cherryfield and a member of Pine Tree Chapter Military Officers Association of America. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Adaline (Folsom) Hill of Agawam, MA and one son Charles Albert Hill and his wife Laurie of Wilbraham, MA. He has five grandchildren: Robyn Dahlgren and her husband Michael of Bountiful, Utah; James Hill and his wife Sarah of Salt Lake City, Utah; Christopher Hill and his wife Michelle of New Britain, CT; and Mary and Jennifer Hill both of Boston, MA. He also has seven great grandchildren; Emily, Esther, William, Rachel, Clara, Lydia and Annabelle. He is survived by one brother, Edwin and his wife Mariellyn and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Emery Folsom Hill, a sister Helen Gammon and three brothers; Frank, Niilo and Reino Hill. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Brewer, Maine. Arrangements are being made by New England Funeral and Cremation Center, LLC in Springfield, MA and Brookings-Smith in Bangor, Maine. Memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Church Memorial Fund, 35 Church St., Brewer ME 04412.
