Robert C. Messier

U.S. Veteran

SPRINGFIELD-Robert C. Messier, 77, died on April 11, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center. Born on January 30, 1935 in Springfield, MA to the late Leo and Gertrude (Mathias) Messier, he graduated from the former Springfield Trade School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army in Korea. He was employed by Sears, Roebuck for 40 years as a serviceman. In retirement he drove limousines for Century Limousines for 13 years. He was a member of the Adriatic and the John Boyle O’Reilly Clubs and the American Legion Post 420. Predeceased by his daughter, Karen Messier who died in 1996, and his sister, Adele Coughlin, he is survived by his wife Ramona (Disla) Messier, originally from Gaspar Hernandez, Dominican Republic; his sons, Michael F. Messier and his wife Jill of Westfield, MA, John P. Messier and his wife Diane of Ware, MA; his former wife, Barbara (Sullivan) Messier; stepchildren, Bethel and William Arnold III and Annery Brown of Springfield; Elizabeth Silva and Bryan Rijo of Winchester, MA; grandchildren, Erin and Jack; his sister, Elaine Houser of Springfield, MA and many step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. The funeral with full military honors will be held on Friday, April 13, 2012 assembling at 7:30AM at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA proceeding to St. Michael’s Cathedral for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 8:15AM. Burial will full Military Honors will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery. Visiting hours are TODAY Thursday, April 12, 2012 from 6:00-8:00PM.
